Well, well, well, the Russian did very well, as expected in the meet in Holland this weekend. According to IG, Rodionenko has announced the main contenders for the Russian team. they are;
It is pretty much the bunch we would expect. Nice to see Anna Pavs in this group, though it would be a surprise to see her on the final team. I haven't had time to look at the videos yet, but it seems Anna Dementieva had a rough time, with a few misses, so that may affect her outside chance. This could also help Pavs final bid at a major before she retires!
The AA order was;
1. Aliya Mustafina 60.100
2. Ksenia Afanasyeva 57.500
3. Ksenia Semenova 56.700
The good news, of course is Aliya Mustafina's fabulous return after a sluggish mid-season. She took the AA with over 60 points, setting her up for a spot on the AA podium in Rotterdam if she continues in this form.
Here she is doing THE AMANAR;
Tatiana Nabieva also made everyone's day by catching her laid-out Tkatchev to her Pak. It was accompanied by easy swinging and an easily stuck mount. Woot! big fun skills!
Nabieva also landed a stunner of a double Arabian in what was a solid floor set from her.
Ekaterina Kurbatova is probably Russia's other bubble girl, methinks? She has always been somewhat patchy. It will be interesting to see who makes it, that's for sure. I think she was used on bars and beam.
I am so excited about seeing a really competitive Russian team out there next month. It is going to be FUN!
Ksenia Semenova is looking a little better on bars, but she is still not the bar worker she was. She is still a strong AA worker for this team, however.
The big question- is Marta afraid? .......very afraid?!!
