THE WIEBER INJURY....

Oh gawd, no wonder she crashed and burned- look at how completely weak Jordyn Wieber's ankle was?  It rolled the minute she stood up on the beam.  This is the problem with these horrifyingly high pain thresholds that young gymnasts develop- they don't even know they are harming themselves further....
You could see within 7 seconds of that video, that that she had no business being on a beam.

  1. I'm really questioning why this kid was allowed to compete an Amanar after crunching her ankles in warm-ups. What a waste of obvious talent to destroy her body before she's even eligible for senior competition!

  2. That routine was downright scary. She had absolutely no stability in her ankles. I hope its nothing serious but honestly why push her too hard now, next year is different when she's a senior but this is the end of her season this year. I think her coach is very good about injuries with his girls too. If he thinks its something big she won't compete

  3. I must say, it's rather amazing she pulled off the standing full. Poor girl.

  5. She hasn't officially pulled out of Saturday's competition, as far as I've heard, but I hope her coach scratches her right now. It's still 2 years before the Olympics, so there is no need to drive her at such a relentless pace. She needs to heal, before she causes herself permanent damage.

  6. I hope she'll be okay!

And to "Anonymous" she actually did her Amanar, and then I though she crunched her ankles in the warm up right before beam.

  7. I couldn't even watch the whole thing once I saw her ankle give out just from trying to stand on it! That was HORRIBLE!

  9. Poor girl- see the impact of pain and adrenaline.
Hope she will forget about that competition as soon as possible---
    And: What a beautiful leotard!

  10. I'm still trying to figure out why there was blood on the beam after that routine. I saw them taping her knee and cleaning the blood from the side/back of her knee. What did she do to start that?

  11. She said in an interview that it wasn't her blood. It was someone else's! Ew!
