HORRIBLE IZBASA NEWS..

The Romanian paper, Prosport just reported that Sandra Izbasa has been badly injured during a workout last night.  During training a umbling pass (edit!), Izbasa ruptured her achilles tendon and damaged her metatarsals. She was sent as an emergency case to Bucharest by her coach, Forminte, who attributed it to a bad, bad landing.  Forminte also said that she was very lucky she had "the presence of mind" to pull her head around or it could have been worse (or maybe that he pulled her around- translation ever an issue!).  Poor, poor Sandra.  Luck has not gone her way since the Olympics.  My thoughts are with her and I hope she isn't in too much pain.
Sandra was training for the Romanian Nationals to be held this weekend.

  2. Oh man, with the exception of Beth now, this quad will totally be all about the newbies.

  3. Izbasa didn't get injured doing a Tsukahara vault. She landed badly on her second tumbling pass on floor, a piked full-in. (The full-in is known as a Tsukahara in Romanian.) Forminte said she herself had the presence of mind to pull her head in, or things could have been much worse.

  6. I`m very sorry for her. Sandra is a marvellous gymnast and a very nice girl. It would have been fantastic for her to go to Worlds and have the grat success she deserves.
