Moscow World Stars?

Where's the Stars?

There's not been too much talk about the Moscow World Stars lately.  The line up is not too bad,but not exactly as enthralling as a Russian competition line up might have been twenty years ago..  It looks like there might be a bit of a Ukraine-Russia face-off in the ladies department, giving some of the young 'uns some more competitive experience before the Worlds in London.

Alina Kozich is not in the line-up for Uzbekistan or Ukraine (according to Chimgym, she is not allowed to compete for Uzbekistan yet.  Also see Chimgym for full Moscow line-up.  Men too).  There are a couple of girls competing for Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in the line up.  It's always lovely to see the well-trained 'Stan' gymnasts!

For Russia we have Goryunova, Berger, Kurbatova and Myzdrikova lining up.

Ukraine's competitors will be Holenkova and Kalashnyk.  No sign of Demyanchuk unfortunately.  I hope they are just busy focussing on the worlds and she is not injured.

Stampfli and Tuchelli are in for Switzerland, but no Kaeslin or Zimmermann

The Patron Saint of the World's Worst Leotard, Miss Twister, Adela Sajn will be present, as well as  Marta Pihan, Sanne Wevers, and the gorgeous little Belorussian, Alina Solitnikova.

Outside of Europe, only Brazil and Vietnam are bringing gymnasts to Moscow.  The Australians bowed out earlier this year.  Not surprising.  It's a bit of a way to Moscow!  Then home.  Then back for Worlds!  I think the Australian gymnasts should get honorary bonus jetlag points sometimes, really i do!

This will all happen on the 29th and 30th of May.

  1. Yeah, it's quite a poor field compared with last year even. No Chinese gymnasts this year, although that's probably because of the proximity to their National games.

Adela Sajn rarely seems to miss a World Cup event!
