A Few Basic Safety Rules...

OR..... WHAT NOT TO DO WITH THE APPARATUS

THE COUCH GYMNAST SUGGESTS THAT WHILE WORKING THE EVENTS YOU DO NOT ATTEMPT TO......

Forget your Uniform (Tasha Schwikert)

Graffitti 'OCTAVIAN SUCKS' on the horse when no one's looking.

Use your team mates when there is no beam free.

Have more than one girl vaulting at a time

Or forget to set the horse up at all.

And never, ever try and use a real one.

Don't swing bars before you can walk

Or test to see if your perm will hold during practice

Get your little sister to do your work for you

Do not drink too much before practice

Play 'horsie' with the beam

....And DEFINITELY no napping!

(This entry was really just an excuse to use these great pics i have had for a while now!)

  3. There is a type of gymnastics called "horse vaulting." It's basically acrobatic gymnastics on a horse. Here's a website with some videos: http://www.voltigierdvd.de/turniere2008/bremen/index.htm

I couldn't believe it at first, either. I was on a forum where a moderator did horse vaulting. I thought she was just talking about artistic gymnastic's vaulting. I didn't realize what it was until somebody on a different forum posted that webpage.
